A downtrodden matriarchy and, unfortunately, extraordinary circumstances—a disturbing earthquake, crushing debt, a dying ex-husband, a furious co-worker and her son’s girlfriend—bring her to the brink. ;Hamon" is a standard Japanese word that literally means « wave » and metaphorically the influence each of us has on others. This is highlighted several times in this film with scenes where the main roles are the wife, husband, son, etc. – stands in a shallow pond and the waves from one character expand in a regular circle to reach the others. an interesting enough visualization of interpersonal relationships, but nothing that couldn’t be applied to any movie involving humans. Or indeed any living organism. The arc of the film tells about the escape and suffering of a Japanese housewife who has to survive the sudden disappearance of her husband, the death of his father. the only son at university, and then a career as far as you can travel without leaving Japan (well, except for Okinawa), and then said tramp reappears. man Among other events. There’s a lot of humor, a lot of shoes, a few awkward scenes with the deaf fiancé the son brings home unannounced. I think it was worth watching even before the final scene, which was surprising, exciting, invigorating, actually quite wonderful. oh!
